Sort Storm - I vinternatt CD

One of the overlooked releases in black metal this year is the Norwegian band Sort Storm's first full-length album “I Vinternatt”. The first thing that struck me was that the true traditional sound is literally rooted in the second wave of pagan black metal with a huge influence from early Satyricon and Ulver. For once, I thought this might be a similar style to Djevel, but fortunately Sort Storm’s songwriting is quite impressive. The frigid ferocity and freshness make these some of the best works I have heard this year and there are plenty of chilling atmospheres that give this album a grim sound.
