Norwegian Dark Folklore Black Metal

Tulus from Norway are one of those bands that you can’t judge just so on the first listening. To the average listener, they might sound too much Old School Black Metal or to average, but when you give to this record your attention than you will see that they have much offer to offer you in return. The Devil lies here in the details to say it so. Once you get into their music, you will see that there are plenty of details that you would miss if you are listening to this record with one ear only. I noticed that over 10 years ago when I heard their music for the first time and I must say that since than this band hasn’t changed. On this new record you can find 10 jewels of True Norwegian Black Metal that will surely hit the nerve of the worshippers of the old style, but also those who are open minded and in search for some progressive moments will get what they are searching for. Off course that this band is not as progressive as many other in this genre and I would use the word “progressive” very open to describe this album. The songs here on this record are mainly faster songs with some calmer moments to give to the atmosphere of the record the certain deepness that puts this band out of Darkthrone and Mayhem copies of this genre. The song “Draugnatt” is the slowest one here with some faster parts and in my opinion it is the one that shows the best this band has to offer. My only problem with this album is that some of the songs here on it are maybe too short. The average playtime of the songs here is around 3 minutes. That also reflects on the entire album when you think that the entire playtime of it is offer 30 minutes. If this album would be longer, than it would be better in my opinion. This way, the album ends too soon.
